How many flowers are sent?

You're not the only one that will be sending flowers on February 14th!

Here are some facts from the Flowers & Plants Association (2004):

On 14th February:

• Nearly £30 million pounds are spent on Valentines Day Flowers;
• We spend over 50% more on fresh flowers than we normally do;
• But only around 1 million people buy Valentines Day Flowers;
• With around 90% of them being bought by men;
• With 5% of flowers being bought formenl
• This may mean that men are buying valentines day flowers for more than one women?
• Over thisperiodd 9 million red roses are given.
• Valentines Day is an international thing with flowers coming from Colombia, Holland, India, Israel, Africa and the Channel Isles.
• Worldwide over 50 million roses are traded on this one day alone.
